1. Introduction

These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of Devprentice, an open-source apprenticeship platform that connects aspiring developers with project maintainers. By creating an account or using the platform, you agree to be bound by these terms.

2. Eligibility

To use Devprentice, you must:

• Be at least 16 years of age
• Have a valid GitHub account
• Have the legal capacity to enter into binding agreements
• Comply with all applicable laws and regulations in your jurisdiction

3. Account Registration

You must create an account using GitHub or Google OAuth to access Devprentice. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

4. Contribution Agreement

When you contribute to open-source projects through Devprentice, your contributions are subject to the license of the upstream project repository. Devprentice does not claim ownership of your contributions. By submitting code, documentation, or other materials to a project, you confirm that you have the right to make such contributions under the applicable project license.

5. Scoring and Evaluation

Devprentice uses automated and manual evaluation methods to assess apprenticeship progress. Scores and evaluations are based on objective criteria including code quality, contribution frequency, and milestone completion. While we strive for accuracy, scores are provided as assessments and do not constitute guarantees of skill level or employability.

6. Verifiable Credentials

Upon successful completion of apprenticeship milestones, Devprentice may issue verifiable credentials attesting to your accomplishments. These credentials are cryptographically signed and can be independently verified. Credentials reflect your work at the time of issuance and may not be altered after issuance.

7. User Obligations

You agree to:

• Provide accurate information during registration and applications
• Use the platform lawfully and in accordance with these terms
• Not attempt to manipulate scores, evaluations, or credential issuance
• Not impersonate other users or misrepresent your contributions
• Not interfere with the normal operation of the platform
• Respect the intellectual property rights of project maintainers and other contributors

8. Intellectual Property

The Devprentice platform, including its software, design, and branding, is the property of Devprentice and is protected by intellectual property laws. You retain all rights to your own contributions made through the platform, subject to the applicable open-source project license.

9. Disclaimer

Devprentice is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee continuous, uninterrupted access to the platform. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

10. Termination

You may stop using Devprentice and delete your account at any time. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or abuse the platform. Upon termination, your verifiable credentials remain valid as they are independently verifiable.
