Terms of use

The service

Devprentice helps open-source maintainers run programs on their own repositories and helps contributors join them. Code, pull requests and reviews stay on GitHub. Devprentice records the agreed program terms, the milestones, the work you submit and the review decisions people make.

Devprentice is not a credential, certification, rating or hiring assessment. People make every review decision. Optional AI drafts are labeled and never replace a person's decision.

Your account

You sign in with GitHub. Devprentice uses your GitHub identity and email address. Sign-in does not request write access to your repositories. Keep your GitHub account secure; actions taken while you are signed in are treated as yours.

Devprentice is a pilot. A program opens only after an administrator approves it, and each program's maintainer decides who joins.

Your records and what you publish

Your work records are private by default. Nothing becomes public until you choose to publish it and approve a preview. You can hide a public profile or unpublish a record later. Search indexing is a separate choice that stays off unless you turn it on.

You keep the rights you already have in your work. You let Devprentice store and show it to the people involved in the program, and to the public only where you chose to publish it. See Privacy for what is shared and what optional analytics sends.

Acceptable use

Submit only work you have the right to share. Be honest about what you did. Treat maintainers, reviewers and contributors with respect. Do not use Devprentice to harass people, to mislead anyone about a review outcome, or to get around a repository's own rules.

Review and moderation

Devprentice administrators review program proposals before they open and can decline them. An account that breaks these terms may be suspended or deleted. Maintainers and named reviewers decide whether submitted work meets the agreed acceptance criteria.

Ending your account

You can ask for your account to be deleted. Deletion ends your sessions, removes stored GitHub access tokens and replaces your identity in records other participants rely on. Search engines and other services may keep copies of anything you published until they refresh; Devprentice cannot remove those copies.

Devprentice is a pilot and may change or stop. We will update this page when these terms change.
